Michigan hauls heavier than any other state, builds cars and everything that feeds them, farms fruit and dairy on the west side, and logs and mines the Upper Peninsula. It also has a flat 6 percent sales tax with no local add-ons, a clean apportioned registration system, and a rolling stock exemption that matters to interstate carriers.

We place Michigan files with lenders that fund across the state, from a Detroit demolition contractor to a Grand Rapids carrier to a Traverse City orchard. Options in 24 to 48 hours on a soft inquiry.

What is driving equipment demand in Michigan

We work with businesses across Michigan, including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Kalamazoo, and the rural counties in between.

Sales tax and income tax on equipment in Michigan

Sales tax on equipmentA flat 6 percent with no local sales tax. Machinery used in industrial processing is exempt in proportion to that use, and equipment used in agricultural production is exempt.
TrucksThe rolling stock exemption covers trucks and trailers used by interstate for-hire carriers that run at least 10 percent of fleet miles outside Michigan.
LeasesLease payments are taxed as rental receipts unless the lessor elected to pay tax on the purchase.
Income taxMichigan decoupled from the 2025 federal changes. The Corporate Income Tax adds back bonus depreciation and limits Section 179 to $1.25 million. Individual and flow-through filers also use the older, lower federal limits. Federal deductions are unaffected.

Tax rules change and depend on your facts. Confirm with your accountant before relying on any of this.

About financing in Michigan

Equipment financing in Michigan is arranged through Land Tech Capital's network of third-party lenders and lessors. Land Tech Capital is a New York based commercial finance broker, not a lender, and does not hold a Michigan license. Your financing agreement will be with the lender or lessor, who provides any disclosures Michigan law requires. No fee is charged to you before funding, and we are paid by the lender when a deal closes.

Questions we get

Do you finance multi-axle heavy haul trailers?

Yes. Michigan-specific multi-axle trailers and heavy tractors are financed through the same truck and trailer programs, new and used.

Is my tractor exempt from Michigan sales tax?

If you are an interstate for-hire carrier running at least 10 percent of fleet miles outside Michigan, the rolling stock exemption applies to trucks and trailers. Private carriers pay the 6 percent.

Does Michigan follow the new federal Section 179 limit?

No. Michigan kept the older $1.25 million limit and adds back bonus depreciation on the state return. The full federal deduction still applies.
