We are based in Rockland County and started as a site-work contractor here, so New York deals are the ones we know best: the Highway Use Tax decal, the over-26,000-pound sales tax exemption on tractors and trailers, the difference between a Long Island excavator and an Adirondack log loader, and the fact that a snow contract can carry a skid steer loan through the winter.
From NYC and Long Island through the Hudson Valley to Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany, we place files with equipment lenders that lend in New York without hesitation, and we handle the state's commercial financing disclosure on every deal so nothing is a surprise at signing.
Who we finance in New York
What is driving equipment demand in New York
- The Gateway tunnel ($16 billion), Penn Station redevelopment ($7 billion), and the Interborough Express ($5.5 billion) are all moving in the metro.
- Micron's fab campus in Clay, north of Syracuse, has started first construction.
- Annual highway and bridge programs across the state keep aggregates, paving, and heavy haul busy.
We work with businesses across New York, including New York City and Long Island, Hudson Valley, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany, and the rural counties in between.
Sales tax and income tax on equipment in New York
Tax rules change and depend on your facts. Confirm with your accountant before relying on any of this.
Trucks, trailers, and titling in New York
- Trucks and tractors over 18,000 pounds gross weight need a Highway Use Tax certificate and decal before operating on New York highways. It is a weight-distance tax filed quarterly.
- Apportioned registration goes through NYS DMV.
- Off-road equipment is not titled. Ownership follows the manufacturer's statement of origin and bill of sale.
Where New York buyers find equipment
We finance equipment from any dealer, auction, or private seller. Dealers and auctions our New York customers use include H.O. Penn (NYC metro and Hudson Valley), Milton CAT (upstate), Foley Cat (Staten Island), Alex Lyon and Son auctions (Bridgeport, NY). Get pre-approved before you go so the seller sees a buyer who can close.

About financing in New York
Equipment financing in New York is arranged through Land Tech Capital's network of third-party lenders and lessors. Land Tech Capital is a New York based commercial finance broker, not a lender, and does not hold a New York license. Your financing agreement will be with the lender or lessor, who provides any disclosures New York law requires. No fee is charged to you before funding, and we are paid by the lender when a deal closes.
New York's Commercial Finance Disclosure Law requires a standardized cost disclosure from the lender on most financings up to $2.5 million. We transmit that disclosure to you before you sign.
Questions we get
Does New York require a special disclosure on my financing?
Yes. New York's Commercial Finance Disclosure Law requires the lender to give you a standardized disclosure on financings up to $2.5 million that shows the total cost. We pass that disclosure to you before you sign, and true leases are exempt.
Can I skip New York sales tax on a new tractor and trailer?
If the combination is over 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight and used that way, yes. File the exemption certificate within 90 days. We can still finance the sales tax if it applies.
Will a snow contract help a start-up get a skid steer?
It helps. A signed municipal or commercial snow contract is exactly the kind of work-in-hand a start-up program wants to see alongside personal credit and a down payment.
