Pennsylvania runs on heavy equipment: Marcellus gas services in the north and west, hardwood logging across the ridges, dairy and crop farms around Lancaster, and the I-80, I-81, and I-76 corridors that make the state a trucking hub for the whole Northeast. Add the largest data center building program in the country and the annual PennDOT construction season, and there is steady demand for excavators, dozers, dump trucks, and tractors.

We place Pennsylvania files from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh to Scranton with lenders that fund here every week. Start-ups, used equipment from auctions, and challenged credit all have a program. Options in 24 to 48 hours on a soft inquiry.

Sales tax on equipmentState rate 6 percent, 7 percent in Allegheny County, 8 percent in Philadelphia. Machinery used directly and predominantly in manufacturing or farming is exempt, but registered vehicles do not qualify under the farm exemption.
TrucksTrucks are exempt only when used directly by a common carrier under the public utility exemption. Most private and contract carriers pay tax at titling. Lease payments on Class 4 and heavier trucks are exempt from the Public Transportation Assistance fee.

About financing in Pennsylvania

Equipment financing in Pennsylvania is arranged through Land Tech Capital's network of third-party lenders and lessors. Land Tech Capital is a New York based commercial finance broker, not a lender, and does not hold a Pennsylvania license. Your financing agreement will be with the lender or lessor, who provides any disclosures Pennsylvania law requires. No fee is charged to you before funding, and we are paid by the lender when a deal closes.

Questions we get

Can a gas services start-up finance a water hauler?

Yes. Industry experience in the Marcellus counts even when the company is new. Expect 10 to 20 percent down and a personal guarantee on the first unit.

Does Pennsylvania allow bonus depreciation?

No. You take 100 percent bonus on the federal return, then add it back on the Pennsylvania return and depreciate normally. Section 179 is allowed at the federal limit.

Will you finance logging equipment bought used?

Yes. Forestry equipment is a specialized program, and used skidders, feller bunchers, and forwarders are financed with age and hour limits that depend on the lender.
