Farm income comes in a few big checks a year. Financing that demands twelve equal payments fights that. We work with ag programs that structure around harvest, contracts, and milk checks, and that fund the used and private-party equipment most operations actually buy.

What we finance on the farm

How ag deals get structured

Harvest-timedAnnual or semi-annual payments landing after the crop sells or the contract pays.
Long termsTractors and combines out to 84 months because they hold value.
Used and privateRetirement auctions and neighbor sales fund with a bill of sale, serial verification, and a lien check.
Cash-outSale-leaseback on owned equipment to fund inputs or land rent without a bank line.

Beginning farmers

Taking over family ground, renting first acres, or starting a specialty operation are all fundable files with the right structure: a personal guarantee, 10 to 20 percent down, and documentation of the operation, whether that is a land lease, a contract with a buyer, an FSA relationship, or years working another farm. Start with the equipment that produces revenue first.

When the dealer says no

Captive programs from the major manufacturers are excellent for new equipment and established operations with clean credit. They are less interested in a 2009 combine from an auction, an operation with eighteen months of history, or a file with a past hardship. That is most of what we do.

Questions we get

Can payments be once a year?

Yes. Annual and semi-annual schedules timed to harvest or contract payments are standard through ag programs on most tractor and harvest equipment.

Do you finance equipment bought at a farm auction?

Yes. Get pre-approved before the sale so the lender can pay inside the auction terms. Bring the lot listing and serial number.

I am a beginning farmer with little history. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily. A personal guarantee, a down payment, a land lease or buyer contract, and experience on another farm make a workable file.

Can I refinance owned equipment for operating cash?

Yes. Sale-leaseback and equipment-backed loans on paid-off tractors, combines, and trucks are common ways to fund inputs.
